Growth · Paid discovery before a build

Ask the awkward questions before the invoice gets bigger.

Starts at
$3,500
Typical timeline
2–4 weeks

Discovery is a paid project that comes before a build. We ask questions and audit what you have. Then we hand you a prioritized plan with scope and rough costs. It’s for teams who know something needs to change but aren’t sure what to do first. You walk away with a plan you can use with us or with anyone else.

What’s included

  • Stakeholder interviews. We talk to the people who run, sell and use your site, and we write down what they actually say.
  • Audit of what exists. We look at your site, platform and analytics. Content and integrations get the same treatment. We note what works and what’s quietly costing you.
  • Goals and constraints. Budget and deadlines. Team size. Systems you can’t change. A plan that ignores these is just a wish.
  • Prioritized roadmap. Each recommendation is ranked by impact and effort, so the order is obvious.
  • Scope and cost ranges. For the first phases, so you can budget before committing to a build.
  • A readout. A working session where we walk through findings and answer questions. You keep the written plan.

How a project runs

This is our method in miniature. We listen first. We absorb what we heard and what the audit shows. Then we suggest a plan. Building comes after, and only if you want it. Our first week is interviews and access. The middle is audit and analysis. The last stretch is the plan and the readout.

Pricing and timeline

Discovery starts at $3,500 and takes 2–4 weeks.

The price rises with the number of people we interview and how many sites or systems we audit. A single site with one team is the low end. Several brands, markets or platforms push it up.

Proof

We’ve run paid discovery projects for Ash & Ames and CCHI. We also do ongoing planning with McEvoy Ranch, where strategy conversations feed straight into what we build and what we leave alone.

Questions people ask

Why pay for discovery instead of going straight to a quote?

A quote based on guesses has padding in it. Discovery replaces the guesses with facts. That usually saves money later, because you build the right thing the first time.

Do I have to hire you to build afterward?

No. The plan belongs to you. Some clients hand it to their in-house team or another agency. Others ask us to build it. Both are fine.

Does the discovery fee count toward a build?

Discovery is its own project with its own price. If we move into a build, we can talk about how the two fit together, but we don’t promise credit up front.

Who needs to be involved?

The person who owns the budget and two or three people who know the work day to day. We schedule short interviews around their calendars.

What do I get at the end?

A written plan with findings and a ranked list of recommendations. It has scope and cost ranges for the early phases. We also run a readout session to talk it through.
