Shopify · Shopify and Shopify Plus
Launch day shouldn't feel like a hostage negotiation.
- Starts at
- $10,000 theme-based · $18,000 fully custom
- Typical timeline
- 6–10 weeks · 10–16 weeks
We design and build Shopify and Shopify Plus stores for brands that want to sell online without babysitting the platform. You get a finished store with design and theme done, apps and checkout working, and content loaded. We stay around to keep it running. Shopify is the only ecommerce platform we build on.
What’s included
- Design and build together. The same team designs the store and builds it. Nothing gets lost between a designer and a developer.
- Theme-based or fully custom. Start from a proven theme and shape it to your brand, or have us build a theme from scratch when your catalog or story needs it.
- Product and collection structure. We set up your catalog, variants and collections. Navigation and search come with it, so shoppers can find things.
- Checkout, shipping and tax. Payments and shipping rules. Tax settings. The emails customers get after they order.
- Apps, set up properly. We install and configure the apps you need. We skip the ones you don’t.
- Launch and handover. Redirects and testing on real phones. Analytics set up. A walkthrough so your team can run the store.
How a project runs
Our method is listen, absorb, suggest, build. We learn your products and customers first. Then we propose a plan. Only then do we build. You see design before code. You see a working store on a staging site well before launch day.
Pricing and timeline
Theme-based stores start at $10,000 and take 6–10 weeks. Fully custom stores start at $18,000 and take 10–16 weeks. Design is part of both.
What moves the price up is scope. More templates add time. So do custom sections, a larger catalog, content we have to load, and links to other systems.
Two services fold into a build or stand alone:
- Shopify apps setup: $1,500 per app. We set up and configure the app. We don’t recruit affiliates or run the program for you.
- Shopify Markets for selling abroad: $5,000, usually 4–8 weeks. Currencies, domains and pricing rules for each region. We like global projects.
Proof
We built McEvoy Ranch’s Magento store in 2016, moved it to Shopify Plus in 2020, and we still run it. It has a custom theme and connections to inventory and accounting systems. We also handle its email and site search. We also designed and built Sadhana Beads and Vitalist on Shopify.
Questions people ask
How much does a Shopify store cost?
Theme-based builds start at $10,000 and fully custom builds start at $18,000. The final number depends on templates, catalog size and integrations. We quote a fixed price after one conversation about what you sell.
Should I use a theme or go fully custom?
A theme is faster and cheaper, and it works for most catalogs. Custom makes sense when your product pages need to behave in a way no theme does, or when the brand has to look like nobody else. We’ll tell you which one we think fits.
Do you build on platforms other than Shopify?
Not for ecommerce. Shopify is our only ecommerce platform. We know it deeply, and we’d rather do one thing well than offer five things badly. If your site is mostly content, we’d point you to our WordPress work.
What do you need from us?
Product data, brand assets and one person who can make decisions. We handle the rest. If your content isn’t ready, we can write or organize it for an added cost.
What happens after launch?
We stay available. Many of our clients keep us on for updates and improvements. McEvoy Ranch has been with us for years. You can also take the store in-house, and we’ll show your team how.
