Shopify · Custom themes and front-end rebuilds
Your theme fights you. We take your side.
- Starts at
- $5,000
- Typical timeline
- 3–6 weeks
We build custom Shopify themes and rebuild the front end of stores that are already live. If your theme is slow or hard to edit, we fix the code. The same goes for a theme that won’t do what your merchandising needs. You keep your products, apps and data. Shoppers get a faster store. Your team gets sections they can edit without calling a developer.
What’s included
- Theme audit. We read your current theme and find the hacks and dead code. Then we decide what stays and what goes.
- Custom sections. Flexible blocks your team can arrange in the theme editor, so landing pages don’t need a developer every time.
- Product and collection templates. Layouts built around how your products are actually bought, including variants and bundles.
- App compatibility. Your existing apps keep working. We wire them into the new templates and test each one.
- Mobile-first front end. We check every template on real phones.
- Staged rollout. The new theme is built and tested as an unpublished copy. You approve it, then we publish.
How a project runs
We work in a duplicate of your live theme, never on the live one. You get a preview link early and often. When it’s ready, we check the cart and checkout once more, then publish at a quiet hour. The old theme stays saved in case we need to step back.
Pricing and timeline
Theme work starts at $5,000 and takes 3–6 weeks. That covers a focused build or a front-end rebuild on an existing store.
Price rises with the number of unique templates and custom sections. Apps to reconnect add time. So does any design work that’s still open. If you need design as well, a full Shopify build may be the better fit.
Proof
McEvoy Ranch runs on a custom theme we built for their Shopify Plus store, and we still maintain it. Theme work like this is never really finished, so we keep tuning it as the business changes.
Questions people ask
Can you rebuild my theme without changing my design?
Yes. If the design is right and the code is the problem, we rebuild the front end to match it. Pages look the same and load faster, and they become easier to edit.
Will my apps still work?
Most will. We test each one against the new templates before launch. Where an app injects its own code, we wire it in by hand. Occasionally an app is better replaced, and we’ll tell you.
How do I edit the theme afterward?
Through the Shopify theme editor. We build sections with clear settings and sensible defaults. We also hand over a short guide covering the parts your team will touch.
Why not just buy a new theme?
Sometimes you should. A new theme costs less up front. But if you’ve already customized heavily, a fresh theme means redoing every change. We’ll look at your store and give you a straight answer.
Do you do the design too?
We can. For a design and build together, see our Shopify development service. If you only need front-end work, this is the right place to start.
